Вон оказывается как дело было...(+)
Всем привет.

Alex,
Sorry it took so long to reply.
(1) which types of ships are usually doing Shotgun Cruiser job? Which ships were doing it during the incident?
Usually it is an Aegis Cruiser or Arliegh Burke Destroyer, because they have the SPY Radar system. In this case it was a cruiser. I can't discuss screen stationing. But it was a cruiser.
(2) How much bunker a carrier usually takes during a bunkering? Her tanks capacity is known, I guess she takes somewhere between half anf full bunkers. That is needed to figure out duration of bunkering operation.
UNREP (Underway Replenishment) can take a long time. Just depends on what is being transfered. Fuel, stores, ammo, people, external loads, etc. Don't know what the Kitty Hawk had going that day. I know that FDNFJ ships (Foward Deployed Naval Forces, Japan) are not allowed to go below a certain percentage of fuel. That percentage is well above 50 percent, and Kitty Hawk did not break that rule. By the way, you can launch aircraft during unrep. Recovery can be done as well, but is not recommended. They did have an alert 7 aircraft on the cat "ready" to go. It went down on the cat.
(3) As I understand, the two consecutive flyovers were actually two passes of the same package. Is that correct?
Two separate flyovers on two separate days, two passes each.
