RAFAEL, PROPULSION & EXPLOSIVE SYSTEMS DIVISION - ROCKET MOTORS, WARHEADS, FUZES AND PYROTECHNICS The Propulsion & Explosive Systems Division (MANOR) of RAFAEL (Israel’s Armament Development Authority) provides all the energetic components for RAFAEL’s missiles such as propulsion, warheads, Safe & Arm devices and pyrotechnics. MANOR also supplies missile components to other Israeli and international aerospace companies.
SOLID PROPELLANT ROCKET MOTORS For nearly 50 years, MANOR has been involved in the design, development, industrialization and production of a variety of rocket motors for missiles and rockets and provides its customers with high-performance, functional and competitive products.
MANOR’s products have been integrated in air-, ground- and sea-launched missiles and rockets, produced by RAFAEL or by other Israeli and international companies. Our products include the propulsion systems for:
Satellite launcher: AUS-51 (3rd stage motor) Air-to-Air : Python III, Python IV Air-to-Ground : Popeye/AGM-142 Ground-to-Air : Barak, Arrow (2nd stage) Anti-tank : Nimrod, Gill, NT-D EW Expendable Rockets : LRCR, MRCR, BT-4/1, Heatrap. MANOR’s products cover a wide range of thrust profiles, from short duration boosters, through boost-sustain motors to long-duration sustainers, containing energetic, low-smoke or minimum-smoke composite propellant grains. MANOR is also involved in R&D activities of low-signature propellants, pulse motors, thrust vector control systems, etc. Special emphasis is placed on motors which meet the Insensitive Munitions (IM) requirements. An IM Test Center (which meets the requirements of Mil-STD-2105A) has been established.
MANOR is involved in research and development of ramjet propulsion systems and has successfully demonstrated the ducted rocket ramjet configuration in a flight test. MANOR’s testing facilities enable the performance of connected pipe, free-jet and transition testing of ramjet engines from the concept verification phase through the complete system integration test.
EXPLOSIVE SYSTEMS – WARHEADS, FUZES AND PYROTECHNICS MANOR provides the warheads for Python III, Python IV, Barak, Nimrod, Arrow II and other systems.
Among the warheads currently in development or production one may find fragmentation, shaped charges, blast, hard target penetrators, tandem, aimable and Fuel-Air Explosive (FAE) warheads. Special emphasis is given to IM explosives and warheads, which are qualified in the IM Test Center.
MANOR provides Safe & Arm devices, multi-level fuzes and fuzes for tandem and directional warheads.
MANOR’s Pyrotechnics Center provides a variety of pyrotechnic devices: Gas generators, Initiators, primers and squibs, detonators and pressure cartridges.
